We are a diverse group of mainly older racial/social justice advocates dedicated to revealing the beloved community already among us. Our mission is to dismantle white supremacy culture through the power of love, commitment, and informed strategic action. Our values and guiding principles include centering BIPOC voices and experiences; relationship and coalition building; racial and social justice for all; growth in personal and collective understanding of race, racism and Allyship; nonviolent discourse and action; and personal commitment to create safe, brave spaces for all. Elders and Allies also supports the boycotts of Home Depot, Target and Amazon, as well as Avelo Airlines, who continue to provide deportation flights for ICE.

Our Voices, Our Power

Healthcare, food, stability- we collect stories on the impact of Federal cuts in the Finger Lakes/WNY region. Cuts from the government to essential programs will hit families across New York hard. These changes mean higher out-of-pocket costs, Added strain to hospitals, nursing homes and community resources, and a weakening of our local economy. Our group is ready to capture your stories on video and in writing.

Rochester Food Not Bombs

Rochester Food Not Bombs recovers resources to create free vegetarian and vegan meals in our local community. We are a decentralized all-volunteer run group, with no hierarchy or formal leaders, making decisions based on consensus. We recognize poverty as a form of violence, and think access to food should be viewed as a right, rather than a privilege. In this practice, we strive to reduce waste by turning donated food into productive meals. We source food from vendors at the public market, as well as relying on donations. Food should be a source of nutrition for people, not profit under capitalism. Through Community organizing and outreach, we support other local and national peace and justice groups to create a broader sense of social responsibility. If you would like to get involved, please reach out to us.

Visibility Brigade

We believe that people need "social proof" to inform them how best to respond to this crisis, and we deliver inspiration weekly with new messages commenting on the issues of our time. Our goal is to remind our neighbors of our nation's emergency and to suggest simple actions they can take and encourage support of pro-democratic state and national political candidates. On overpasses, we literally stand over our messages, waving at passing cars, reminding everyday people that they are not alone in these unprecedented times.
